Nissan TITAN PRO-4X earns top honors for second straight year at competition focusing on vehicles for athletically focused consumers
The 2017 Nissan TITAN PRO-4X full-size pickup was named the top vehicle in the "Best Value Extreme Off-Road" category at the Active Lifestyle Vehicle Awards (ALV), an annual on-road and off-road vehicle evaluation program held in Chandler, Arizona. TITAN PRO-4X topped the Chevrolet Colorado ZR2, Ram Rebel and Toyota 4Runner to earn top honors for the second straight year.
Awards were judged by a panel of more than 20 national and Arizona-based active lifestyle and automotive journalists and athletically focused consumers – including cyclists, triathletes, former National Football League (NFL) players and ex-pro athletes. The ALV awards are earned by vehicle manufacturers in various categories, such as family value, green vehicles, luxury and off-road. TITAN PRO-4X was noted for its overall performance, packaging and overall capability.
"We are thrilled to win the "Best Value Extreme Off-Road" category at the Active Lifestyle Vehicle Awards two-years running," said Billy Hayes, division vice president, Commercial Vehicles and Trucks, Nissan North America, Inc. "The TITAN lineup is designed to be "ready for adventure," whether transporting equipment or mastering a challenging off-road trail. And against some rigorous competition, TITAN rose to the top. Thank you to the judges and everyone involved at the Active Lifestyle Vehicle Awards for a fantastic event."
The Nissan TITAN half-ton is offered in a roomy Crew Cab body in both 4x4 and 4x2 configurations and in five well-equipped grade levels: S, SV, PRO-4X, SL and Platinum Reserve – each powered by the 5.6-liter Endurance® V8 gasoline engine. In addition to the Crew Cab model, TITAN Single Cab and King Cab models are also offered. For 2018, a new Midnight Edition featuring a special "blackout" exterior treatment is available on TITAN Crew Cab SV and SL grade 4x4 and 4x2 models.
All 2017 and 2018 TITAN and TITAN XD models are covered by Nissan's recently announced "America's Best Truck Warranty1"– featuring bumper-to-bumper coverage of 5-years/100,000-miles, whichever comes first.

TITAN attracts a higher percentage of Millennial and Generation X buyers with a humorous, attention-grabbing approach
Nissan's new TITAN campaign is a stark departure from the competitive and serious tone often used in truck advertising, as the brand uses humor to attract more Millennial and Generation X buyers – two key demographics TITAN currently has a higher share of than segment sales leaders.
According to retail sales data from Strategic Vision, both TITAN half-ton and TITAN XD owners have median ages three to four years younger than the industry average1. The same data reveals TITAN has a higher share of Millennial buyers than the segment's two best-selling nameplates. However, it is with Generation X buyers where TITAN really over indexes, with 34 percent of TITAN sales in this demographic – 10 percentage points above the segment average.
"Over the years truck advertising has become very formulaic with stamped metal, rock crushing and chest-beating," said Jeremy Tucker, vice president, marketing communications and media, Nissan North America. "We are looking to use humor to appeal to a younger demographic for the Nissan brand. "No Lazy Horses" allows us the chance to break the mold and reinforce what TITAN has to offer – best-in-class standard horsepower, a class-leading warranty2 and great value."
